Episode 8 | Ijeoma Oluo
This week we brought in writer and speaker Ijeoma Oluo to make us SUPER uncomfortable. She brings up so many amazing points about systemic white supremacy and really challenges us to look at our role in society. Are we doing everything we can to stop it? Or are we living comfortably and quietly benefiting from it? If you’re a white, cis-male, be warned… you’re going to be confronted with some ugly truths.
But we don’t stop there! She also shares with us her fears at the mother of male children of color, what it’s like growing up as the only black kid in school, mixed race privilege, and we also tackle a very touchy question about transphobia.
Ijeoma is a phenomenal writer and you should absolutely pre-order her book, So You Want to Talk About Race!
You can also pick up The Badass Feminist Coloring Book!!
And follow her on Twitter!
Episode 7 | Riley Silverman
Writer/Comedian, Riley Silverman joins us this week to talk a lot about life as a trans woman. She shares her experiences growing up with gender dysphoria, coming out, and eventually transitioning. We talk a lot about discrimination, adolescent masculinity, gender identity, sex, sexuality, dating, societal norms, and video games. But mostly we talk about what words Andy shouldn’t use.
Here’s everything Riley!
